API keys
Turn on news and AI with free keys.
Prices, charts, portfolios and scores work as soon as you install Soritch. Two extras use outside services, each with a free key you paste into Settings once.
What each one does

NewsAPI — headlines on the News page and dashboard, and news sentiment in Analytics. Free plan: 100 requests a day. newsapi.org · setup guide

An AI engine — the written summary and chat in Analytics, and feedback in Learn simulations. Pick one of the three below.
Choosing an AI engine
You only need one, and you can switch at any time without losing saved keys.
- Groq — cloud, very fast, generous free plan. The easiest place to start. console.groq.com
- Gemini — Google’s cloud AI, free tier through Google AI Studio. aistudio.google.com
- Local (Ollama) — runs on your own computer, so nothing leaves it and there are no limits. Needs a fairly powerful machine and a large download. ollama.com
With a cloud engine, the stock data and headlines for the analysis you run are sent to that provider to write the summary. Your portfolio itself is never sent. With Local, nothing leaves your computer.
Where keys go in Soritch
Everything lives in Settings: the NewsAPI key under Data sources, and AI keys under AI engine.
The Setup modules on the Learn page walk through the same steps inside the app.
Treat an API key like a password. Don’t share it or post it in a screenshot. Soritch stores it only on this computer, shows just its last four characters once saved, and leaves it out of backups unless you choose to include it. If a key leaks, delete it on the provider’s site and create a new one.
