API keys · Gemini

Set up Gemini.

Gemini is Google’s cloud AI. With a free key from Google AI Studio, Soritch can write stock summaries, answer questions in the Analytics chat and give feedback in Learn simulations.

1. Create a key in Google AI Studio

  1. Go to aistudio.google.com/apikey and sign in with a Google account.
  2. Accept the terms if asked.
  3. Click Create API key. If Google asks for a project, pick an existing one or let it create one.
  4. Copy the key that appears.

You can view, copy or delete your keys on the same page later.

2. Add it to Soritch

  1. Open Settings and scroll to AI engine.
  2. Set Engine to Gemini. The Gemini rows appear.
  3. Paste the key into Gemini API key and click Save. The field now shows dots and the key’s last four characters.
  4. Leave Model empty to use the default, gemini-3.6-flash.

3. Check it works

Open Analytics. The status near the top should show a green dot and GEMINI with the model name. Run an analysis on any stock to make your first request.

Back in Settings, the Usage row counts the requests and tokens sent from this computer. It’s Soritch’s own estimate, not Google’s figure; Reset sets it to zero.

Limits and troubleshooting

  • Google’s free tier limits requests per minute and per day. Current numbers are on Gemini rate limits.
  • To use a different model, type its name from Gemini models into Model and click Save.
  • Red dot — no key is saved.
  • An error from Gemini — Soritch shows Google’s message. Usually the key was mistyped or the model name doesn’t exist.
Switching to another engine doesn’t delete your Gemini key, so you can switch back at any time.
Treat an API key like a password. Don’t share it or post it in a screenshot. Soritch stores it only on this computer, shows just its last four characters once saved, and leaves it out of backups unless you choose to include it. If a key leaks, delete it on the provider’s site and create a new one.
